In February, this service was introduced in New Zealand and Australia. Meta Verified allow Instagram and Facebook users to receive a blue badge, which is proof that their ID has been verified. In addition, thanks to this service, users are protected from impersonation and have direct access to customer support.

Meta Verified requires that the account verification process be carried out using an identifier issued by the government. The subscription price starts at $11.99 per month. A separate subscription is required for each application.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, announcing the launch of the Meta Verified implementation in a post on February 19 on the firm channel broadcast on Instagram, said that the new feature will increase the authenticity and security of the company’s services. On the same broadcast channel, he announced that the new service had become available in the United States.

The decision to expand the geography of the Meta Verified application was made after receiving positive results from using this feature in Australia and New Zealand.

The company’s press release, published on the occasion of the launch of a new service in the United States, states that the introduction of the identifier will allow in practice to test the effectiveness of some of the initial knowledge of the firm’s specialists and provide feedback.

Currently, the company is eliminating the subscription feature to increase coverage, as the main forces are focused on the development of Meta Verified. Experts are exploring the prospects of adding new features to the subscription as the scale of its use expands. It has not yet been announced when Meta Verified will receive new elements.

Meta in promoting the ID follows a similar practice of Twitter, Snapchat, and Telegram, which launched subscription services in order to diversify revenue sources in addition to advertising.

In February, Meta representatives stated that the paid verification service is in demand by the creators. They also spoke about their intention to make this service available worldwide and noted that this will happen after the specifics of its use in several individual countries have been studied in detail. Last year, the company began exploring possible options for accessing functions of this purpose using a paid access algorithm.

Mark Zuckerberg, promoting Meta Verified, in a sense repeats the actions of Elon Musk. The CEO of Tesla, after buying Twitter last fall, introduced paid verification on this social network at a cost of $ 8 per month through the updated Blue subscription service.

As we have reported earlier, Meta Winds Down NFT Service.
