Amazon Web Services has become another company to explore generative artificial intelligence. The new?Bedrock AI service is now available in a limited preview
Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies have been a focus for Amazon for over 20 years. Today, Amazon Web Services (AWS) is going to another level, launching?Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Titan models to build and scale generative AI applications.
Generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence that can create new content and ideas, e.g. conversations, stories, images, videos, and music. The most popular example today is OpenAI’s ChatGPT. However, many companies like Google or?Alibaba are introducing their own versions of generative AI chatbots.
This March, AWS and NVIDIA started collaborating to create a next-generation AI infrastructure, which will reduce the adaptation time of machine learning (ML) models and reduce the cost of their training. The companies explained it would?include tools for processing user requests in a particular field of knowledge, code generation, video and images, speech recognition, and other applications with generative AI.?The companies also intended to promote AI-based innovations both in large enterprises and in startups.
The first examples of the innovative AI technologies presented by AWS have already been launched.?Bedrock is a cloud service that developers can use to enhance their software with AI systems that can generate text. It functions similar to the engine behind the popular ChatGPT chatbot.
Through Bedrock service, AWS will offer access to its proprietary language model called Titan, third-party language models from startups AI21 and Google-backed Anthropic, as well as a model for turning text into images from Stability AI.
Clients will be able to customize Titan models with their own data. However, such corporate data won’t be used to train Titan AI models in order to prevent information use by competitors.
The service is currently available in a limited preview. To access Bedrock, customers can join the waiting list.
