Citi credit card holders have been able to make payments in installments using Amazon Pay when placing an order on thousands of online store sites.
The new payment method transfers the Citi Flex Pay BNPL option to a digital wallet. Eligible Citi credit card holders can choose payment plans for a period of three to 48 months, subject to a purchase of $50 or more.
Monthly payments are included in the minimum monthly payment of the cardholder, which is payable at the end of each billing period.
Amazon claims that millions of customers have already appreciated the benefits of this payment method based on personal experience. The new deal expands the space for using the payment format. This scheme of step-by-step transfer of payments has become available to thousands of online retailers, including Jomashop, Litter-Robot by Whisker (an automatic litter box for cats), and Fragrance.net.
Omar Sudodi, director of Amazon Pay, says that currently, customers need flexible payment methods. He also stressed that sellers are interested in providing the appropriate opportunity, but they do not always have the necessary resources for this.
According to him, the introduction of Citi Flex Pay on Amazon Pay is a profitable solution for both customers and sellers. The first side of commercial interaction has a convenient way to pay for purchases. At the same time, sellers can now offer customers a wider range of payment methods that are flexible and affordable.
Studies show that 47% of American consumers choose sellers based on relationships with preferred BNPL suppliers. But sellers may lose some buyers if the proposed payment methods are not convenient. Research results indicate that for 32% of consumers, the priority value is the speed of making purchases. Another 25% said that the independent experience of purchasing goods is of primary value to them.
Experts are convinced that incorrectly implemented BNPL can potentially sabotage work by forcing customers to enter data to log in to the service provider’s system or perform additional actions when placing an order.
