For those who only sell a few products, a better option would be to become an individual seller. The Amazon Basic account is suitable for those who aim to sell less than 40 items per month. They would pay 99 cents per sold item and a referral fee, which varies per category.

For now, over half of Amazon’s sales worldwide are offered by external vendors. In Europe alone, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) sold for €6.9 billion via Amazon in 2018.

Two years later, the retailer translated product pages on Amazon.de to Dutch and in 2018, it started offering iDeal, the most popular payment method in the Netherlands. 2019 was the year when Dutch consumers got the opportunity to subscribe to Amazon Prime.
