Long Island University staff and students will now have access to digital identity cards, according to the official announcement.

The New York-based university will allow access to campus facilities and purchases on food outlets as well as other service providers via digital ID cards.

Campus members can add the MyLIU Mobile Card to Google Pay and Apple Wallet. This move will enable them to complete any action that requires the authorization of an ID card via their Android or iPhone phone and even Apple Watch.

To access the fitness centers, libraries, dorms, and other facilities, users will need to tap their gadgets against the reader.

The move paves way for convenient and safe transactions. It will help staff, students, and the faculty to avoid contact with other people’s ID cards.

The university will also issue the ID cards remotely. As such, students will no longer be required to physically apply or pick the IDs. Also, the school will no longer print or send the cards. This will be cost-effective, safe not forgetting environmentally friendly.

PaySpace Magazine anticipates this move will gain popularity among Zoomers and also become a safe alternative during these uncertain times as it eliminates the necessity of human contacts. You can also check out the best ways to engage Millennials into banking.

We’ve reported that researchers developed an NFC bandage that detects COVID-19 symptoms.
