Danish e-commerce to surpass value €21B in 2020

E-commerce in Denmark is forecast to be worth €21.45 billion by the end of 2020, according to Ecommerce News. This would be an increase of 10%, compared to the situation at the end of 2019

In 2019, the most used card payment method online was Dankort (62.9%), followed by Visa (15%) and Mastercard (12.5%). The report says the e-wallet will be the most popular payment method after 2020, while cards will decrease in popularity. Besides, bank transfers will grow slightly, just like e-invoice.

The study also found that 27% of Danish online shoppers order a few times per month, while 24% do this every month and 18% every third month.

The survey revealed that most Danish customers are happy to shop online abroad, which is shown by 51% of shoppers who ordered from other countries in 2019 In the European Union, the average share of cross-border shoppers is at 45%, according to the report.

Besides, 50% of Danish shoppers consider the desktop as the most popular device for online purchases. At the same time, 33% of them prefer smartphones and 15% tablets.
