Coronavirus crisis badly impacted the ability to shop for this year’s Easter
This year’s Easter trading will be severely burdened under the COVID-19 lockdown measures across the UK, GlobalData found.
According to the statement, 3 out of the top 5 activities over Easter in 2019 highlight the family-focus of the occasion. For instance, cooking a special meal, spending time with family, and visiting relatives.
As to those who live together, they may cook a special meal jointly. Although, extended families won’t be able to meet up thus decreasing the volumes sold of key food & drink items such as fresh meat and vegetables.
Besides, in 2019, nearly 80% of Easter shoppers bought an Easter egg. Despite customers might purchase these while buying food, the proportion will drop as families can’t meet to exchange gifts.
