According to Ecommerce News, 1 in 4 German e-commerce companies only sends a single email after checkout.

The report states that despite retailers are now focusing more on shipping communication, there’s room for improvement at most major German online retailers.

Compared to 2018, there are currently 9 retailers instead of 11 who don’t communicate with the customers at all after they have placed an order. Consequently, customers don’t know the current status of the order, where their parcel is, and when it will be delivered.

When it comes to the parcel delivery itself, about 1/5 of the largest retailers let their customers choose between different logistics providers.

Besides, almost a third of retailers didn’t share a specific delivery date. The rest of the e-commerce companies gave an average delivery time of 3.26 working days.

We’ve reported that logistics firm DSV will invest about €270 million in a new logistics center. It will become Europe’s largest with just one leaseholder, covering 700,000 square meters.
