Swedish rural communities get a new way for convenient and secure shopping

Swedish retail startup Lifvs now allows customers who are living in rural areas to shop at its unmanned grocery stores by using a phone.

Shoppers can access their local store by unlocking the door in the app once they have downloaded it and linked a payment card. Afterward, they choose the products they want to buy and scan them with a barcode.

The company is currently running over 20 stores and it plans to open at least 300 small, smart, and unmanned convenience stores where they are needed most.

We’ve reported that Walmart is launching a new membership program that reportedly brings together in-store and online benefits. It is called Walmart+. In addition to online presence, Walmart+ has the reach of more than 4,700 stores, including 2,700 stores that offer same-day delivery.
