Google’s latest crypto feature enables tracking Ethereum wallet addresses straight in the Google search engine instead of using Etherscan
A new feature from Google was announced by the Principal of Google Ventures Han Hua in an Oct. 11 Twitter post. The search engine now gives crypto users an opportunity to search for blockchain addresses.
At the moment, it works only for selected Ethereum wallets. Bitcoin addresses or other blockchains are not supported. Hopefully, the functionality may improve over time.?
Nevertheless, Google’s new feature is a good thing for crypto adoption. Previously, crypto users could rely only on Etherscan for checking blockchain transactions, addresses, tokens, prices and other activities taking place on Ethereum. Introducing familiar non-niche search tools and platforms to the crypto world facilitates mainstream adoption.
Today, Google is playing a key role in onboarding internet users to blockchain-based services and Web3. In addition, the company has partnered with Coinbase to allow crypto payments for its cloud services in 2023.?
At the same time, the CIO of digital asset services platform Matrixport, Markus Thielen says similar efforts from Apple would make the “crypto industry go from 100 miles an hour to 250 miles in a heartbeat.”
