The analysis focused on key device verticals including smartphones, tablets, consumer robotics, smart speakers and wearables
According to Juniper Research, COVID-19 can cause nearly a $42 billion revenue gap over the next 9 months for smart device vendors.
The study expects a reduction in output of more than 80 million devices over the next 9 months. Components’ delivery delays, including batteries, processors, and displays, might disrupt production rates from device vendors. This way, Apple, Samsung, Amazon, Xiaomi, and Huawei must all ensure that any gaps in their supply chains are closed.
The analysis also unveiled that smartphones will comprise the majority of this device shortfall over the forecast period, accounting for over 85% of missed shipments.
Besides, the coronavirus may also cause longer-term problems, including the development of new devices. Thus, device vendors might be unable to completely recover lost device sales since demand will be lower.
