Payment service provider Worldline introduced?VABOX – Voice Alert Box, which provides instant payment confirmation, overcoming challenges of visual impairment and encouraging inclusivity
Worldline VABOX?is a new instant payment voice alert launched for convenience and enhanced inclusivity among merchants in India.
VABOX is a compact device prompting instant voice alerts for QR-code-based payments that ensure a wider hearing range across the entire store.
The initiative is supported by six Worldline partner banks, including Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank of India and others. Initially, Worldline India will roll out half a million devices.
They support multiple regional languages, thus, enhancing adoption among larger merchant and customer bases alike. Besides, voice alert boxes help overcome the challenges of visual impairment which often impair financial inclusion.
As for the technical details, the payment alert device has a sophisticated ARM cortex INR 500 MHz processor, a powerful 2000 mAh battery, a?6-digit 8-segment digital display, essential 4G and WiFi communication, and enhanced memory. It can be customised for individual brands as well.
The tool will cater to the existing QR-code-accepting merchant base of over 250 million as well as the growing numbers of sellers in future.
India has recently opened 75 new digital banking units in local villages and small towns to bring financial services and literacy to more citizens and enhance financial inclusion that remains low in rural areas.
