AWS to Support Early-Stage Startups

AWS Build is a new global program aimed to support entrepreneurs at early business stages to build, refine, and launch their innovative applications

AWS to Support Early-Stage Startups

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced the new AWS Build accelerator to help early-stage startups leverage the AWS tech stack in the launch of their Minimum Viable Products (MVP).

The program will last ten weeks. During this term, up to 500 startup founders will receive business and technical guidance. They will learn to incorporate the most advanced cloud technologies (e.g. AI, ML, analytics) into their applications. Besides, starting entrepreneurs will get practical advice on making strategic decisions related to product development and monetizing their ideas. They will also find out where to find and when to use beta customers.

“Our goal is to help usher in a new generation of startups that are leveraging the power of the AWS cloud in new ways, and to help them get their fundamentals right, so they can be ready to scale,” says Howard Wright, vice president and global head of Startups at AWS.

Applications for the program will be accepted until September 22, 2023. The program itself will run from October 9 to December 15.

In the course of the accelerator, the participants will enroll in online activities, with live virtual engagements happening each week. The curriculum includes technical office hours with AWS solutions architecture experts, Ask Me Anything sessions with VC investors and industry leaders, and P2P networking events.

Participating startups need to have a working prototype and a technical leader on their team. Founders selected for the program will receive up to $2,000 in AWS credits to build their products and services in the cloud. After the end of the program, participants can join the AWS Build community for continued collaboration and advice as they scale.

In late July, AWS launched another initiative to help hospitals save time on summarizing patient visits. The new HealthScribe tool creates documentation for clinics using the speech recognition mechanism and generative artificial intelligence.
