Microsoft has announced that its AI assistant for Windows will be available from September 26, and users will be able to interact with the app Office AI from November 1.
The announced integration of machine intelligence into the products of the technology giant is part of the implementation of its strategy to expand the use of machine intelligence in the space of its own ecosystem.
Microsoft AI assistants under the Copilot brand will provide a single interface for all operating systems, apps, and devices. This was announced on Thursday, September 21, by the chief executive officer of the corporation Satya Nadella during an event held in New York. The tech giant on Thursday also demonstrated AI use cases. For example, a person can ask Copilot to find a flight reservation via text messages.
Satya Nadella says that the most positive examples of the experience of interacting with artificial intelligence, which contains a certain spirit of magic and inspires the development of a high-tech future, were observed when the user received information in a context that went beyond what was in front of him. It can be assumed that the head of the corporation implies cases of AI demonstrating a deep understanding of the essence of the issue and the perception of a given topic on a more global scale than the basic sense. According to the head of Microsoft, it is necessary to ensure a unified development of the search function, performance, and devices with operating systems.
Over the past year, the technology giant based in Raymond, Washington, has repeatedly retooled its largest products using artificial intelligence technology, which can create original content based on huge amounts of information. Currently, the product line that AI is integrated into includes Windows, Office, Bing search engine, security software, customer service, and finance solutions.
The technology giant uses OpenAI’s GPT-4 technology to a significant extent. The corporation invested $13 billion in the developer of the world’s most popular chatbot.
Microsoft’s competitors, including Alphabet and Salesforce, are currently working on their own products to provide customers with advanced artificial intelligence technologies focused on accelerating and automating some tasks.
The Office product, introduced in March, was tested by approximately 600 customers. The cost of this AI-based offer to the technology giant will be $30 in excess of the fee that most business customers already list. This product provides an opportunity to use data from the Internet. Also in this case, customers can work with internal information within the framework of solving tasks such as analyzing spreadsheets, creating slide shows, and forecasting business processes.
Microsoft announced the Windows product in May. This offer will be available via a button on the taskbar on the PC screen. This button opens a sidebar that can be used as an assistant. With this tool, users can copy and paste text materials, rewrite, summarize, and explain the content. It is also possible to ask questions to Copilot, as in Bing AI chat.
At an event in New York, the tech giant demonstrated how a user can copy an email containing data on variants of spending time in the nearest radius. The software also automatically shows the distance in time, not in miles. This happens when the user talks about the intention to walk.
Microsoft is also currently testing Office artificial intelligence tools. A group of clients of the technology giant and representatives of small businesses take part in this process.
As we have reported earlier, Microsoft to Offer Legal Safeguards AI Users in Copyright Cases.
