By 2019, the supermarket has already received about 300,000 new customers in the Netherlands and Germany
According to Ecommerce News, Dutch online supermarket Picnic has raised €250 million in a new investment round. It wants to use the money to create a robotized distribution center of 42,000 square meters.
The Dutch bank ABN Amro gave Picnic a new loan, along with the investors that are the existing shareholders. The millions of euros will be spent to develop a logistics center, equipped with over a 100 fully automated sorting, packing, and distribution machines.
The new distribution center will have room for 200,000 boxes, which will be used to store the fast-moving consumer products. Overall, 150,000 households in the Netherlands can be served by the new center every week.
